#DownonPark is the area of downtown below Laurens Street on Park Avenue and it runs to the Farmers Market area on Williamsburg Street. Known for the beautiful parkways that separate both sides of the one way streets, Park Avenue was Aiken’s original “downtown”. It is home to the Farmers Market area, Train Depot Museum, lawyers, hair dressers and barbers, retail merchants, real trains, the Salvation Army, beautiful magnolias and live oaks. Sadly, it is void of any restaurant businesses! There has been a lot of teamwork over the past few years to increase the walkability and future vitality of this area in #DowntownAiken. Some exciting things are happening #DownonPark these days! Stay tuned for a series of articles sharing the people, places, commerce, events, and greenspaces #DownonPark.
