Entrepreneur of the Week is a weekly column to showcase a successful business person in Aiken and share their success story in order to help grow entrepreneurship in the Aiken area.
Keith Griffin has been making hardwood floors beautiful since 2005 in the CSRA. Keith, an Aikenite, grew up with a family of hard working people. His grandfather, Carl Carver, could fix just about anything. You could find him on the weekends working on a truck for a friend or maybe repairing a refrigerator. Most of the time you would find about half of his grandchildren (including Keith) hanging around his house. The backyard full of trees, land and dirt roads was a place where imaginations ran wild. We could say that the commitment to hard work rubbed off on many of the grandchildren. And Keith is no exception.
Keith had been farming for several years and had a friend introduce him to hardwood floor finishing. He stayed with that company for 2.5 years before he decided to go out on his own and start his own small business, Carolina Wood Floors. His company will refinish old hardwood floors or finish new construction floors. He works alongside Travis Campbell, Yes, another cousin and product of The Carver family. You sometimes may find them out eating lunch around Aiken joined by Keith’s father, Bobby Griffin, who sometimes will offer a helping hand to his son.
Keith has worked all over Aiken and loves that Aiken continues to grow daily. After 13 years of business he has learned a lot. He’s proud of his work and craftsmanship. He would love to encourage others who are thinking of starting a small business. “Take pride in what you do, work hard and don’t let disappointments set you back, keep pushing forward”
