You can’t find many places where you’re greeted by the same familiar faces daily and they treat you like family. Just take one step into Just Julie’s and you will feel right at home. Julie Mogy has been the face behind delicious lunch, supper and maybe a snack in between for over 21 years.
Julie was born and raised in Aiken. She had always worked in the food industry and in 1997 Sub Station 2 became available for purchase. She wasn’t looking to buy a business but did the footwork and found a banker who believed in her. In 2017 her 2nd 10 year contract with Sub Station 2 was up for renewal and people always told her, “Why Don’t you stop being Sub Station 2 and be Julie’s?” That’s what a lot of her customers already called the restaurant. After a lot of thinking and praying she decided to go out on her own. She said, “It wasn’t an easy decision to make. Sub Station 2 had been in Aiken for 36 years and sometimes change is not easy even though we ONLY changed the name. It took a while for customers to realize that it was the same owner and same great food.”
What makes Just Julie’s different from other Sandwich Shops in Aiken?
Just Julie’s is full of regulars. Only a handful of restaurants in Aiken still have daily regulars. Julie told a story about one customer who comes in daily and orders the same menu item. After not seeing him for a couple of days, she picked up the phone and gave him a call. She was worried that maybe he was under the weather. Come to find out, he was just out of town. Each customer is treated with outstanding customer service while visiting Just Julie’s. Julie says, “It’s easy to provide good customer service because we have great customers!”
All food items are made in house- from homemade chicken salad to homemade cakes. The best-selling item on the menu is “The Carnivore” (#19) which consists of ham, bologna, turkey, capicola, salami, pepperoni and cheese. Just Julie’s also offers party platters for special events. Julie says the reason the food is so good is because its made with love.

Julie would like to encourage others who are thinking about starting a small business to get business advice and do the footwork before you start. She says getting a business consultant is a very smart move to make. And, stay humble and pray daily.
Regular customers know that Julie has a huge heart. She leaves her footprint all over the community. She has collected items in her restaurant for hurricane relief and has helped many other local needs. She is so humble about her community outreach that she didn’t even want me to write about it. She just feels like she’s been so blessed and she wants to give back. No matter what your situation in life is, Julie says, “You can always change, life can always get better.”
